Coki Beach is always worth the trip! It is an amazingly clean white sand beach. The water is crystal clear and all the shades of blue you expect to see in the Caribbean.
But besides all that we get to swim with the fish!
My husband and I were there a few years ago and have not forgotten the amazing time we had. The locals are very welcoming and attentive. They made sure we were comfortable with beach chairs, food and endless fruity drinks.
One thing to consider when planning a day at Coki beach is whether the cruise ships are gonna be in town or not. The beach can be very crowded on a day that there are numerous ships in port. We chose a day that NO ships were due in.
This trip there were seven of us and everyone had a great time. Delivered by taxi so the fruity drinks were not a problem. We found chairs in the shade, grabbed the snorkel gear and dove it.
The snorkeling is excellent here for beginners. I know this because this is where I first snorkeled! The reef is not far and the water is so clear with very few rocks on the beach!
The second reason, and probably the reason Coki Beach is so popular, is the fish are not shy. There are dog biscuts available to feed the fish and they are used to being hand fed. They will surround you in schools and eat from your hand. ( video posted at Kool Palms Travel Facebook.)
Snorkeling should be the first adventure of the day if you plan to enjoy the fruity drinks and samples. Then you can wade in the water or sit in the surf with your cup and enjoy the fish swimming around you.
There are shops, restrooms, and equipment rentals on site. You truly have everything you need for a beautiful day at the beach!
